And already regretting that I only have the morning to look around. This place is an architects dream. Nate you would love it here. There are enough bridges to put Hampton Roads to shame and they're huge!
I'll write more about where I've been on my trip so far when I get to Boston later tonight. For now I just wanted to check in with everyone and say that I'm having the time of my life!

Aaaaand....We're off!
I'm leaving in a little less than an hour (as soon as i pack up my car). First stop: DC. Hopefully traffic's not as bad heading into dc as i've heard it is heading out. Hopefully I'll get there in time to see the Spy Museum and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. We shall see.
My cat finally caught on to me leaving. He's been jumping in and out of every box and bag in the house to prevent me from putting things in them (including the ones i'm not using). I'm sure to be shunned for quite some time for this one :\
Well, I should go get on the road. I'll update as soon as i find internet :). Heeeere gooooooes!

I have a tent!
and a sleeping bag! and a box full of AAA travel guides. I also just bought a handheld GPS and a book called 1,000 Places to See in the USA and Canada Before you Die. I'm excited :D.
I'm still building up my postcard list so keep those addresses coming.

Preparations
I now have just over a week before I leave for my trip, and I'm taking care of a few last minute preparations. At the moment, I'm blacking out my tapes for filming. This consists of filming over them from start to finish so that when I go back to use them later I don't have any breaks in time code. This isn't a big deal for smaller projects, but when you're working with hours and hours of footage, and multiple cameras, inconsistant time code can give you big headaches in the editing stage.
Now I just need to get my car inspected, find my digital camera, do some last minute shopping and put together these town and city bios....among other things.
Rather than try to come up with everything right now, I'll just keep updating about my trip preparations as them come, for all you analytical types who are more interested in the process of this whole venture.
